Back from the Last Frontier!
I've just finished a watercolor painting workshop in Alaska, visited friends and enjoyed my fill of halibut. While living in Anchorage for over 10 years, I witnessed countless Coho salmon runs. In my painting, "Upstream Dream" I wanted to portray the density, determination and sometimes whimsy of this annual spectacle. Since my first art class just last year, watercolor is my new passion and I've had a hard time putting the brush down ever since.

Are you watering down what should be a masterpiece?
Last week I loved learning to paint vibrant entertaining watercolors. What's the secret? Illuminate the key subject of the painting capturing light. Without this, the viewer's attention is distracted.
What's the secret to keep your auction guests focused and bidding high? Spotlight your mission so they know exactly where their money is going and how they are making a difference. Invite them to invest in your cause.
Just as too much water dilutes the vibrancy of watercolor paintings, likewise diluting the focus of your benefit auction can bring disappointing outcomes.
As you make tough auction budget decisions, be sure to protect the event details that MAKE YOU MONEY!
Highlight these powerful income streams:
- Fund a Need
- Live Auction
- Silent Auction
- New Interactive Revenue Activities
Avoid these mistakes that decrease profit:
- Long boring speeches
- Too much emphasis on entertainment
- Too much emphasis on decorations
- Conducting your auctions at the wrong time
- Using an amateur auctioneer
Remember, illuminating, not watering down is what will make your next event a Masterpiece. Keep focused on auction details that make money and maximize your fundraising efforts.
