A Higher Bid

Thanks to you -
Amazon Best Seller!

Volumes of thanks!

A HIGHER BID launched as an Amazon bestseller book! Thank you for your kind letters, calls and emails, I love hearing from you about how you are using these strategies to raise more funds and to engage more donors!

To show our gratitude, we have extended $600 of free gifts for book purchasers until June 30. Hearty thanks to these national leaders in auction fundraising who offered generous launch gifts: NW Software, Mitch Stuart Destinations of Excellence, Benefit Auction Institute, Tracy Repchuk and Greater Giving.

Summer may be a quiet time for benefit auctions, but it's the perfect time to gear up for your next fundraiser. Check out my easy and profitable tips on how to train your volunteers and board to confidently ask for anything.

Soon after I wrote A HIGHER BID, this captivating burrowing owl emerged under my brush. May this little oracle of wisdom bring you higher intuition, creativity and gratitude. Just scroll down to see my latest watercolor.

Always Bidhi!

8 Ways to Avoid Ask-Phobia:
How to Train Your Volunteers to Successfully
Ask for Anything

Ask for Anything

Why We're All So Scared to Ask

My goal in this blog is to drain the terror out of the ask for you, your auction volunteers and board members. Because here's the secret nobody tells you: Your supporters want to be asked. It's flattering. It makes them part of the good work you're doing. Sure, they might say they're strapped for cash or way too busy at the moment. But even that can be an opening for you to further your relationship with them and find a different question, one they can say yes to. (More on that later.)

Right now, I just want you to realize that this kind of asking isn't any harder than asking a passerby what time it is. In fact it's easier, because you're asking for such a good cause.

Donors want - and need - to hear about the impact their gifts will have.

Supporters want to know they're making a real difference. As long as you communicate that, your ask will be a powerful and welcome invitation.

And because there are so many ways to ask.

Testimonials

Praise for A Higher Bid

"Author Kathy Kingston's absolutely "nails it" in this book on transforming a strategic fundraising auction. As a full time professional fundraising auctioneer with over 20 years of experience, I believe I have read every book written on the topic of benefit auctions. Ms. Kingston, hands-down has written the best ever book on this subject. She delves into the nuances of charity auctions including audience development, matching the auction items to your attendees, how the brain positively responds to giving in a group setting, and so much more!

Ms. Kingston has spent a lifetime researching best fundraising auction practices. Not-for-profit organizations that host charity auctions should rejoice Kathy took the time to author this book. If you wish to positively transform your auction, buy this book today."

"I loved this book! It is a treasure trove of ideas and great advice presented in a format that is easy to understand. Our non-profit community arts center has been hosting a fund-raising gala for 10 years and we have learned a lot of the lessons in the book the hard way. As we continue to grow and expand our development skills, this book will be a invaluable resource for our volunteer committee members, board members and staff. Each chapter provides dozens of strategies, ideas and the reasons behind why they work. It is a very user-friendly book with lots of practical examples, sample "scripts" for volunteers and interesting stories that will inspire many "Aha" moments. Open the book to any page and you are sure to come away with tons of valuable insight in just a few minutes of reading."
